Spaces
A space holds a team's docs, files and comments. It can also hold one app, built from the docs.
Everything you make in Cloudtifact lives in a space. A space's page has three parts:
- Pages, on the left: the space's docs, and its app if it has one (marked APP). Files and History are under the list.
- The page you picked, in the middle. Everyone edits a doc at the same time (headings, lists, to-dos, quotes, callouts, code). Edits sync live, and every checkpoint is kept as a version you can go back to.
- Comments, on the right: every thread on the space's docs and on its app.
A space can also have an app, built by the AI from the docs, with its own database. See Apps.
Make a space
On your workspace's home page, press New space. It opens an untitled doc:
- Click the name at the top to rename it.
- Press + next to Pages to add another doc.
- Bring people in with Share.
Comments
Select text in a doc or in the app, then write in the box under Comments. The comment quotes what you
selected. With nothing selected, it goes on the page you have open. Type @ to mention someone in the
space. Reply in a thread, and resolve it when it's dealt with.
Your coding agent reads the same comments with cloudtifact comments --space <id>.
The AI
The AI is optional. In the web app it runs only when you ask it to build the space's app:
- Press + next to Pages and choose App to build the first version from the docs.
- Under the app, describe a change (or leave the box empty) and press Update app to build a new version.
The build's progress shows in Comments. There is no chat in the web app, and @ai does not call the
AI: @ only mentions people.
When the app is ready for others, press Publish to give it a public address with its own database, join codes and rollback.
Who can do what

Workspace owners and admins manage every space in the workspace; workspace members can edit. People added to a single space are guests: they only see that space, and they don't take a seat.
Link access lets anyone signed in who opens the space's link join it as a viewer, commenter or editor. It's off by default.
Files
Upload files for the AI to study when it builds: chat exports, PDFs, spreadsheets. They're kept private to the space and never served from a public address. Hide a file from the AI without deleting it.
Publishing from code
If you work in Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, the CLI publishes pages and docs from your repo
(cloudtifact publish, cloudtifact push). They appear on the workspace's home page in the same list of
spaces, marked Published from code, with versions and comments your coding agent can read back.
