Cloud artifacts
Made by AI. Kept at a link.
A cloud artifact is something an AI made, such as a page, a doc or a small app, that lives at a link people can open, comment on and come back to.
Here is one.
On 2 October 2026 we asked an agent to research cloud artifacts and write it up. It wrote one HTML file and published it with one command. A teammate opened the link and left six comments on the parts they disagreed with.
The agent pulled the comments, made the changes, replied to each thread and closed it. Nobody copied text out of a chat or pasted feedback back in.

How the labs approach them
“I think we need to display each provider’s limitation and if it’s HTML only.”
Agent v2: added Formats, HTML only? and Limits rows for each provider.
- 07:05v1 published
- 07:18 – 09:056 comments from a teammate
- 09:41v2: limits added, every thread replied to
- after v2all 6 threads resolved
Every assistant has its own version.
Each of these lives inside one company’s account. Use Claude Code on Monday and Codex on Tuesday, and your pages end up in two places, or in none.

- Has had Artifacts since 2024. In Claude Code they are live pages on claude.ai that keep versions and take comments Claude can answer. Each is a single page with no backend. Source
- Grok
- Got Build Mode on 28 July 2026. It builds sites, apps and games in the chat and publishes them to grok.me or your own domain. Early beta, SuperGrok Heavy only. Source
- Meta AI
- Since 24 July 2026, keeps everything it makes for you, from slide decks to mood boards, in one place you can share from. Source
- ChatGPT
- Went the other way. OpenAI removed Canvas from its current models on 28 May 2026; documents and code now stay in the chat as writing and code blocks. Source
Not the other kind of artifact.
To a DevOps or ML engineer, an artifact is a build output or a model file in a registry. Cloudflare also sells a product called Artifacts, which is Git storage for agents. Those hold files for machines. A cloud artifact is for a person to read.
Publish your own.
From Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or anything that can run a command. Private or public, guests comment without an account, and every version stays at the same link.
